Getting ready for Thanksgiving Dinner: Pumpkin Pie from scratch!
Pumpkin PieThanksgiving is coming in a week and i hope you are getting ready with your dinner menu! Did you choose the perfect turkey" Frozen or fresh" This year I'm going to celebrate Thanksgiving with a group of italian people... but don't worry, we are going to follow the traditional American Thanksgiving menu! The chefs, Marco and I, (you should remember him from the Gnocco Fritto) are studying hard since few weeks to find the best stuffing and the most traditional side dishes. I'm sure it's going to be fun and I'll post the recipes!
Last year, my husband and I, were invited to celebrate Thanksgiving at Mo and Matt home, and I was asked to make the traditional Pumpkin Pie. Now, I was a bit stressed cause it was a family dinner and I didn't want to disappoint their parents, so I asked Mo to give me some directions on how to make the cake. She actually told me that most of the people buy the crust frozen and fill the cake with can pumpkin mix, I was speechless!! I decided then to make the Pumpkin Pie from scratch! (but I bought a can pumpkin mix - just in case - that, a year after, is still in my pantry...)It takes some time to make it, that's true, but I think it's totally worth it!! The pumpkin filling was moist and soft, with a nice flavor from the sweet wine and the spices, and the crust crunchy.
I made the Pumpkin Pie the day before Thanksgiving and, to be honest, I didn't sleep good that night cause I was afraid it was too dry! I made a chocolate haze...
