Hurricane Mimosas

Hurricane Mimosas- this combination of two cocktail favorites is perfect for celebrating Mardi Gras.
You get the rum, passion fruit juice, and grenadine from a Hurricane combined with orange juice and champagne. They are extra boozy and sure to get the party started. This recipe makes a big portion, enough for at least 6 large drinks.
What is a Hurricane"
The Hurricane is probably the most famous New Orelans cocktail. The French Quarter bar Pat O’brien’s created the drink back in the 1940s during World War II. During the war, bars had a surplus of rum from the Caribbean because they had to buy two cases of rum for every case of bourbon or whiskey which were scarce at the time.
It’s a wonderfully sweet and boozy cocktail full of passion fruit juice, orange juice, grenadine, and two types of rum.
Rum cocktails are my favorite so this Hurricane Mimosa is right up my alley and it does not disappoint. As with a regular Hurricane, it is very easy going down and you have to be careful. It can really sneak up on you.
This recipe is so easy. Just mix all the ingredients together in a pitcher. Be sure your champagne and juices are well-chilled beforehand. You might even want to measure out the rum and refrigerate it so the whole mixture is really cold.
Hurricane Mimosas Recipe Tip:
If you don’t have any grenadine, use about 1 tablespoon of maraschino cherry juice in its place.
