The cake itself is an easy lemon cake recipe. You just need a couple bowls, a whisk, and a spoon to stir up the batter. The decorating part is slightly more involved but don’t worry, it isn’t bad at all! The two-toned frosting is totally optional, feel free to just frost it with cream cheese frosting if that’s easier for you.

I highly, highly recommend filling the cake with lemon curd though. The lemon curd is one of the main lemon flavors and it adds amazing texture to the cake as well.
