Huevos Rancheros Shakshuka Style
Omu-sit
Corn Chip ? Crusted Monte Cristo
We went back to the kitchen to try a fast version of omurice or Japanese omelet rice. But upon seeing the shelves of instant noodles, Chef Ed suggested changing the rice to instant pancit instead.
After the noodles were cooked, he had them fried in catsup and canned tuna.
He then grabbed another skillet and made a thin omelet.
Then he poured half of the cooked noodles onto the omelet and made it into a roll.
Before serving, he drizzled the omelet with catsup and mayonnaise. The result looked wonderful and we couldn?t wait to taste it. After our first forkful, we were very pleased. This one succeeded beyond our expectations! It had a flavor that reminded us of a merger between a takoyaki (Japanese octopus balls) and an okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancakes). Chef Ed then dubbed this creation as the ?Omu-cit?. I just simply marveled that we were able to achieve this with a few simple ingredients from the convenience store.
To be honest I was skeptical about our last recipe: Ed?s version of a Monte Cristo by coating the sandwich in egg and crushed chi...
